This website functions as a gateway to information about
existing programs, opportunities and technical assistance within state government that relate to cultural heritage tourism.
One of the most important reasons people travel is to experience someone else's landscape, heritage and way of life. Identified by the travel industry as the cultural heritage tourist, this growing segment of the traveling public offers many opportunities to local communities in terms of developing the local economy while perpetuating local lifestyles and quality of life.
Recognizing this trend, the Utah Department of Community & Culture (DCC) established the Cultural Heritage Council (CHC) in 1999 to assist community-based organizations.
CHC (Cultural Heritage Council) is a multi-disciplinary team that fosters cultural heritage tourism for Utah. We accomplish our mission through:
Identify and preserve cultural and heritage resources. Provide grants, technical assistance, and professional development to heritage areas and communities.
